Mechanical Engineer, Mountain Biker, Outdoorsman, Photographer… It all depends on the context. This site is to showcase my photographic endeavours.
Cycling, particularly Mountain Biking was something that I was gifted at, and for several years it took me to some pretty special places. It was on a 3 month tour of Europe Mountain Biking in 2008 that I first asked myself “how would I best capture my surroundings?”. Later that year as a student stuck in the unfamiliar indoor confinement of a northern hemisphere winter, I used my newfound hours to attend to learning photography. A timely investment, as I then proceeded to cycle myself into a rut of training fatigue in the summer of 2009.
My photographic interest continued after receiving training in darkroom printing from a retired professional. For the past 5 years I have primarily produced 8×10″ silver gelatin prints captured on medium and large format negatives with a strong influence of the biosphere as subject matter.
My latest complete project The North was a departure from my established workflow and was captured entirely on 6×7 colour film. Inspiration came from my surroundings living and working in West Yorkshire between 2010 and 2013.
